Christiaan started his DPhil in Management Studies in 2015 under the supervision of Sue Dopson and Javier Lezaun. His research is funded by the Saïd Business School-Saïd Business School Foundation Scholarship. Christiaan is affiliated with the Saïd Business School (SBS) and the Institute for Science, Innovation and Society (InSIS). He is a member of Christ Church College.
Prior to starting his doctorate, Christiaan was a Visiting Fellow at InSIS in the BioProperty Research Group. He received an MPhil degree in Science and Technology Studies from Maastricht University and a Honors degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from University College Maastricht.
Christiaan’s research explores the commercialisation and governance of emerging biotechnologies. He is particularly interested in the early stage translation processes of human health innovations from out of the laboratory into scalable products and services. His current studies and writing focuses, in particular, on the emergence of gene editing platforms like CRISPR.
